Shading on the body of green color with "shunkhen" which is a natural dye extracted from plants and cochineal for the halo around the head.




The color of "shunkhen" is greenish-yellow with a bit of orange tint.

"21 Taras" [in process...24 Opening the eyes]
Last Friday June 13th, the full moon day of the 4th month of the Tibetan calendar was the day of "Saga Dawa", one of the most important and auspicious day, the day of Buddha Shakyamuni's Birth, Enlightenment and Parinirvana.

As it is good to choose an auspicious day to open the eyes, though usually the opening the eyes is one of the final step in the process of thangka painting  I decided to do it on this day.
